I am an Attorney and Grant Writer. I have a strong passion for documenting and tracing the kinship, lineage, and history of the Black Community. My background includes assisting and developing church archives, planning and organizing archive conferences, conducting genealogical research, and gathering historical data from archives, newspapers, photographs, etc.

I am a historian of African American civil rights struggles and culture. I am also trained in public history and historical preservation. I have experience with National Register applications, having listed Columbia's Leevy's Funeral Home and assisted with the listing for Scott's Branch School in Clarendon County.

Marilyn Hemingway

Marilyn L. Hemingway is founder and president of the Gullah Geechee Chamber of Commerce, the Gullah Geechee Chamber Foundation Inc and The Hemingway Group, a communications firm. Marilyn's familial roots extend along the entire SC coast extending and includes a long line of family civic, business, education, and political engagement.

I specialize in African American history and the broader African American experience, and currently serve as the Director of Curatorial and Special Exhibitions at the International African American Museum. My experience includes cultural heritage tourism, history and art exhibitions, and public history, as well as higher education teaching and administration.

Pamela Sulton

I am a commissioner for the City of Cayce Historical Museum ang member of African Amercian committee. My family is a part of the current 2023 African American cemetery survey project lead by the City of Cayce. A member of the historical marker committee for the Colored School of Cayce.

Pernessa Seele, Founder & President of the Lincolnville Preservation & Historical Society, is also Founder & CEO of The Balm In Gilead, an organization celebrating 36 years of strengthening faith communities in the USA and Africa to promote health education and services that contribute to the elimination of health disparities.

I maintain the SC Equalization Schools website, including a list of known SC equalization schools. I am still researching and publishing information on this program, including a recent digital exhibit with the Lowcountry Digital History Institute.
