In November 2022, the City of Cayce initiated the City of Cayce Survey of Historic African American Cemeteries. This project started with a public meeting to gather input concerning cemetery locations and history. The archival research was conducted between January and April 2023 and concluded with a preliminary site visit to each accessible cemetery. The historic context, along with the results of the fieldwork, are integrated into a report describing the methods and results of the survey. The final report and a public meeting to reveal the survey results and recommendations to the community occurred October 3, 2023.
