The Garvin-Garvey House remained in private hands until 2001, when the Beaufort County Land Trust acquired the property. In 2004, Beaufort County and the Town of Bluffton entered into a partnership to share the responsibility of maintaining the Oyster Factory Park, which includes the Garvin-Garvey House.
The home was stabilized in 2008 but its wasn't until 2014 that a structural plan and updated preservation plan was put in place by Beaufort County and the Town of Bluffton. Restoration commenced in 2016 and was completed in 2017. That same year a SC Historical Marker was also placed on the site.
