The restoration of the 1904 Long Point School House is a project of the African American Settlement Historic Commission and the Snowden Community of Mount Pleasant, SC. In 2018 the College of Charleston was able to assist in surveying and preparing a report on the condition of the historic school house. In 2021, in response to plans to develop the land the school was one, the community was able to raise funds to move the school house to a new location. The community plans to restore the structure and turn it into a Cultural Education Center and Museum.
